[NL] Architect Joris Kerremans toont 44 tekeningen in het vroegere pauzelokaal van de straatvegers, aan de achterkant van het recreatiepaviljoen van tuinwijk Moortebeek. In deze reeks poogt Joris tot een vrije vorm van tekenen te komen door op intuïtieve wijze te reageren op het archief van Afdeling Moortebeek. Fragmenten uit het archief vormen grafische aanknopingspunten met de plek en bieden daarbij net voldoende houvast. Het paviljoen, de tuin, het gereedschap en het archief worden verkend als conceptuele en concrete ruimten die elkaar vinden op papier.

De kamer werd opgemeten, op papier uitgezet. Samen met Nora Van Severen ontwikkelde Joris een scenografie waarin de maat van elke individuele tekening gedicteerd wordt door de afmetingen van wanden, deuropeningen en ramen. Zo worden de tekeningen en de kamer één, zonder elkaar op te heffen. Ze bevinden zich op dezelfde hoogte en houden elkaar in evenwicht.

Afdeling Moortebeek werd opgericht in 2023 en neemt het 100-jarig bestaan van de tuinwijk Moortebeek als vertrekpunt voor het thematiseren en beschouwen van utopisch samenleven en wonen. Deze tentoonstelling vormt het eerste presentatiemoment van wat hopelijk ooit de coöperatieve galerij l’effort zal worden.

[EN] Architect Joris Kerremans presents 44 drawings in the former break room of the street sweepers, at the rear of the recreation pavilion in the Moortebeek garden village. In this series, Joris attempts to achieve a free form of drawing by responding intuitively to the archive of Section Moortebeek. Fragments from the archive form graphic points of reference with the location, offering just enough anchor. The pavilion, the garden, the tools, and the archive are explored as conceptual and concrete spaces that find each other on paper.

The room was measured and laid out on paper. Together with Nora Van Severen, Joris developed a scenography in which the size of each individual drawing is dictated by the dimensions of walls, doorways, and windows. In this way, the drawings and the room become one, without canceling each other out. They are situated at the same height and maintain a balance.

Section Moortebeek was founded in 2023 and takes the 100th anniversary of the Moortebeek garden village as a starting point for thematizing and exploring utopian coexistence and living. This exhibition marks the first presentation of what will hopefully one day become the cooperative gallery l’effort.
