• Live Conversation: Archipelago of Artistic Practices
[EN] Spaces for artistic work are crucial for artists and precious for ecosystems of cultural life. Their availability, affordability and quality differ heavily and are ever more under pressure in neoliberal contexts. With Eavatea, Jubilee initiated such an infrastructure for development and collaboration, even if its basis is online. How can different kinds of environments for artistic work be shared, maintained, used sustainably, collectively and generatively?

Live Conversations are part of Eavatea’s co-initator nadine’s curated activities in dialogue and in collaboration with artists and or partners. The conversations focus on a specific topic or artistic practices affiliated with nadine. This fourth Live Conversation is organised in the context of Jubilee’s Archipelago of Artistic Practices, a Research Summit organised by Jubilee and M HKA. The programme and exhibition are built around Eavatea, a digital infrastructure for mapping research-based and transdisciplinary practices. During this live conversation Eavatea’s partners reflect on ways in which an extended community of actors can create an economic model for Eavatea, using their own versions of the tool.

Out of Sight is a venue for contemporary art, aiming to find a potential hidden within what is often perceived as different, marginal or even unwanted. It makes room for the ephemeral and the ambiguous. Out of Sight is a space where the poetic and the political meet. The program is build around international cooperations among artists, curators, researchers and the public at large. It strives for a critical and flexible approach, with the objective to support a development and experimentation in arts that is outside the logic of consumption and markets.
In the company of Dušica Dražić (artist and independent curator), we will visit the exhibition currently on view, followed by an informal discussion (max. 25 ppl) on sustainable models of support for these artistic initiatives, and how we can maintain them collectively off- and online.

[NL] Ruimtes voor artistiek werk zijn cruciaal voor kunstenaars en kostbaar voor ecosystemen van cultureel leven. Hun beschikbaarheid, betaalbaarheid en kwaliteit lopen sterk uiteen en komen steeds meer onder druk te staan in neoliberale contexten. Met Eavatea initieerde Jubilee een infrastructuur voor ontwikkeling en samenwerking, ook al is de basis ervan online. Hoe kunnen verschillende soorten omgevingen voor artistiek werk duurzaam, collectief en generatief worden gedeeld, onderhouden en gebruikt?

Live Conversations maken deel uit van nadine’s gecureerde activiteiten in dialoog en in samenwerking met kunstenaars en/of partners. De gesprekken focussen op een specifiek onderwerp of artistieke praktijken die verbonden zijn aan nadine. Deze vierde Live Conversation wordt georganiseerd in het kader van Jubilee’s Archipelago of Artistic Practices, een onderzoekstop georganiseerd door Jubilee en het M HKA. Het programma en de tentoonstelling zijn opgebouwd rond Eavatea, een digitale infrastructuur voor het in kaart brengen van onderzoeksgebaseerde en transdisciplinaire praktijken. Tijdens dit live gesprek reflecteren de partners van Eavatea op manieren waarop een uitgebreide gemeenschap van actoren een economisch model voor Eavatea kan creëren, met behulp van hun eigen versies van de tool.

Out of Sight is een plek voor hedendaagse kunst, met als doel een potentieel te vinden dat verborgen zit in wat vaak wordt gezien als anders, marginaal of zelfs ongewenst. Het maakt ruimte voor het vergankelijke en het dubbelzinnige. Out of Sight is een ruimte waar het poëtische en het politieke elkaar ontmoeten. Het programma is opgebouwd rond internationale samenwerkingen tussen kunstenaars, curatoren, onderzoekers en het grote publiek. Het streeft naar een kritische en flexibele benadering, met als doel een ontwikkeling en experiment in de kunst te ondersteunen die buiten de logica van consumptie en markten valt.
In gezelschap van Dušica Dražić (kunstenaar en onafhankelijk curator) bezoeken we de tentoonstelling die momenteel te zien is, gevolgd door een informele discussie (max. 25 personen) over duurzame ondersteuningsmodellen voor deze artistieke initiatieven, en hoe we ze collectief off- en online in stand kunnen houden.
