[EN] Is it pos­si­ble to grant trees copy­right, as well as deci­si­on-making power and a legal pre­sen­ce within an orga­ni­za­ti­on? How do you make some­thing like this con­cre­te, mate­ri­al, and admi­ni­stra­ti­ve? Can we also expand the ​“we” of a team or a cir­cle of friends to inclu­de trees and more-than-human beings? And also, is it even approp­ri­a­te to enroll trees in human structures?
The­se ques­ti­ons are the star­ting point for Copy­right for Trees, which see­ks to offer a reflec­ti­on on exis­ting artis­tic prac­ti­ces that enter into col­la­bo­ra­ti­ons with trees and more-than-human beings, and on the pos­si­bi­li­ty of for­ma­li­zing artis­tic col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with more-than-human beings.
The panel dis­cus­si­on will take pla­ce in the pre­sen­ce of, among others, An Mer­tens & Maria Lucia Cruz-Cor­rei­ra (artists), Séve­ri­ne Dusol­lier (jurist), Aelyn Van Diest (bio-engi­neer, com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on with trees).

[NL] Is het moge­lijk om bomen auteurs­recht te ver­le­nen, even­als beslis­sings­recht en een lega­le aan­we­zig­heid in een orga­ni­sa­tie? Hoe maak je zoiets con­creet, mate­ri­eel, admi­ni­stra­tief? Kun­nen we de ​‘wij’ van een team of een vrien­den­groep ook uit­brei­den naar bomen en meer-dan-men­se­lij­ke wezens? En ook, is het wel oppor­tuun om bomen in te schrij­ven in men­se­lij­ke structuren?
Deze vra­gen zijn het uit­gangs­punt voor Auteurs­recht voor Bomen, dat een reflec­tie wil bie­den op bestaan­de artis­tie­ke prak­tij­ken die samen­wer­kin­gen aan­gaan met bomen en meer-dan-men­se­lij­ke wezens, en op de moge­lijk­heid om artis­tie­ke samen­wer­king met meer-dan-men­se­lij­ke wezens te formaliseren.

[FR] Est-il possible d’accorder des droits d’auteur aux arbres, ainsi que le droit de décision et une présence légale dans une organisation ? Comment rendre cela concret, matériel, administratif ? Pouvons-nous étendre le « nous » d’une équipe ou d’un groupe d’amis aux arbres et aux êtres plus qu’humains ? Et aussi, est-il opportun d’inscrire les arbres dans des structures humaines ?
Ces questions sont le point de départ de Auteursrecht voor Bomen (Droit d’auteur pour les arbres), qui vise à offrir une réflexion sur les pratiques artistiques existantes qui impliquent des collaborations avec des arbres et des êtres plus que des êtres humains, ainsi que sur la possibilité de formaliser la collaboration artistique avec des êtres plus qu’humains.
