[EN] A struggle ignited when textile workers from the mammoth Levi’s factory in Urfa, Turkey, rose against their working conditions.
We’ve been following their thread for some time now.

In their wake, we’ve entered the caverns of choir — collective breaths, woven vocal textures, flame-whispers, and ripples of stone-wash — voices of resistance and union.
These days, we are waist deep in denim, into its mythology, the industry that makes it, its allure, and the illnesses it carries in its pockets — the material joy and sorrow.

In October, we travel to meet the workers. This residency is our prelude — a tuning before we join them in a shared chorus.

Saturday 23rd august we open the process to you. At 16h00, we gather over a drink; At 16h30, we share a glimpse of the current chapter; At 17h00, we invite you to join us — to test, play, and explore together the exercises we are developing in collective voicing, singing and breathing.

Dress code: unrestricted. Indigo encouraged.

[NL] Wanneer textielarbeiders van de mammoth Levi’s-fabriek in Urfa, Turkije, hun arbeidscondities onder vuur legden, werd een strijd aangewakkerd.
We volgen hun spoor nu voor een tijdje.

In hun licht traden we het hol binnen, een koor — collectieve zuchten, texturen van verstrengelde stemmen, gefluister als vlammen, en kringen van stone-wash — stemmen van weerstand en verbond.
Deze dagen zitten we tot onze middel in denim, haar mythologie, de industrie die haar vormt, haar allure, en de krochten die ze in haar zakken draagt — de vreugde en het leed in het materiaal.
Het is the denim opera.

In oktober reizen we naar de arbeiders. Deze residentie is onze prelude — een stemming alvorens we hen vergezellen in een gedeelde chorus.

Zaterdag 23 augustus openen we dit proces.
Om 16u komen we samen voor een drankje.
Om 16u30 delen we een deeltje van dit hoofdstuk.
Om 17u nodigen we jou uit om mee te doen — een collectieve test, spel, exploratie van de oefeningen die we componeren in collective voicing, zang en ademhaling.

De residentie maakt deel uit van Tamar’s onderzoek the denim opera, gesteund door de Vlaamse Overheid via de beurs voor opkomend talent.
