[NL] ‘Espace Papillon’ is een shop-residentie van beeldend kunstenaar en muzikant Bram Borloo. In maart en april zal hij de shop gebruiken als open atelier en regelmatig sound concerten en workshops organiseren.

De centrale vraagstelling van deze residentie is:

De vitrine als grens tussen binnen en buiten. Kan een  kunstenaarspraktijk een kortstondige constructieve relatie aangaan met een buurt en/of een meerwaarde vormen voor alle betrokkenen?

Dit zal benaderd worden met de volgende activiteiten:

1. Het atelier als open ruimte. Er zullen onder meer presentatie momenten, repetities en samenwerkingen georganiseerd worden.
2. Het educatief pakket dat een ‘deal’ aangaat met de kinderen van de buurt op basis van Magritiaanse methodologie. Het bevraagt de afwezigheid van speelinfrastructuur in een kinderrijke buurt.

Bram Borloo in residence. The shop will become Espace Papillon, a temporary intervention in Schaarbeek focused on Bram’s multidisciplinary artistic practice and an educational programme for children and adults from the neighbourhood.

Bram sees the window as a border between inside and outside. Can an artistic practice enter a short-lived but constructive relation with a neighbourhood or contribute added value to all parties involved? This question is essential and turns the shop into an open workshop as a public space. Neighbours and anyone who is interested are invited for presentations, music rehearsals and concerts. The project’s educational aspect involves a ‘deal’ with the children from the neighbourhood on the basis of a Magrittean methodology. It questions the absence of any playground infrastructure in a neighbourhood filled with children.

Bram Borloo en résidence. La boutique deviendra l’Espace Papillon, une intervention temporaire à Schaerbeek qui se concentre sur la pratique artistique multidisciplinaire de Bram et sur un programme éducatif pour les enfants et les adultes du quartier.

Bram voit la vitrine comme une frontière entre l’intérieur et l’extérieur. La pratique d’un artiste peut-elle brièvement entrer dans une relation constructive avec un quartier ou constituer une plus-value pour toutes les personnes concernées ? Cette question centrale transforme la boutique en atelier ouvert dans l’espace public. Le voisinage et les intéressés sont conviés à des présentations, des répétitions musicales et des concerts. Le volet éducatif passe un « deal » avec les enfants du quartier sur la base de la méthodologie de Magritte. Il met en question l’absence d’infrastructures de jeu dans un quartier où les enfants sont nombreux.
