[EN] Deep Hanging Out is a recurrent and participatory event of School of Love dedicated to co-learning and to performing love practices. In Almost Summer, it will embark on a journey into collective reflection about kin families. Love engagements based on kinship always existed as an alternative to the nuclear family model. But yet, even in a progressive country like Belgium, they remain somehow alternative, unnamed, and socially incompatible under the domination of the nuclear family, which still informs our desires and social imagination.
How can we spark imaginaries that can fuel practices of kin families and sustain them? How can we take care together of the needs our institutions have failed to acknowledge? What new terminologies and structures can we invent ourselves, in order to bring more joy, visibility and safety into alternative families’ lives?
Whether you wish to engage with kin constellations, already practicing it, or even just feel that you care about it – please join us to explore those questions through a game, a sharing of personal stories, a collective ritual and scored encounters. We will fantasize together about the roles, relations, values, needs, rebellions, powers, interdependencies, and loves that we wish for our families to have. Maybe unexpected models might emerge which, hopefully not too far from here and now, might be made possible.
The informal and intimate event will be a housewarming for a space that aims to enable the same care we wish to practice through kin realities. There will be food, resting corners and multiple ways to engage with the activities.
