Residency Nicolas Matzner Weisner

Fri 20/7
Short but heavy trip of 30km to Kocevje today. Of course we decide to leave at the hottest moment of the day.. And the climb is hard. We start from 500m and have to go to more then 800m. The group counts only 4 people now.. Nico and Carla decided to take more time in Zuzemberk and will meet us before or in Rab.
It takes us about 3 hours to get there, but again the landscapes are beautiful and make it worth to do the heavy climb. We do decide to start biking early the next day and take breakfast at 5..

Nicolás is an architect and mind-reader from Santiago, Chile. The constructions he develops are based on kinetic art, and are materialized through psychokinetic forces.

In 2012 he started a video project called “La Ruta del Trompe”, a hyperactive traveler/road movie that shows the ‘other’ side of different cities around the world through the point of view of local artists and their pieces.

Some chapters (available on youtube) of this video diary tell the inside story of the Pollinators trip that nadine organized for the European project Resilients in July 2012. Nicolás was part of the bikers and some of his video material of the road he processed  into his Ruta del Trompe.

During his residency in Plateau Nicolás is working on the documentary video of Hotel Resilients, an event that took place Brussels and presented the main case studies and activities developed by the Resilients.

The artistic video-work of Nicolas relates to this commission as it explores the “behind the scenes” of artists montages (or disassembly’s). All his video works are also part of the bigger framework ‘La Ruta del Trompe’, that presents a fictional reality with a strong commitment never to show things as they actually happened.
