[EN] wie WIJ zijn is a project rooted in an active organic vegetable farm dated 1866 in rural Belgium. Seven artists embarked on a long term residency to explore the parallels between agriculture and art.

During a period of four seasonal residencies at the farm of Boer Maarten (March 2023 – March 2024) the ongoing research, questions and discussions were captured in a series of publications. 

In May 2025 the project came to a new phase: De Collectie. 

The first presentation of De Collectie took place in May, as a public parcours on the farm of Boer Maarten in Attenrode Vlaams-Brabant. Each artist shared their experiences through the lens of their own practice. The conditions that shape ‘work’ — and also life — were brought into the open.

In September, De Collectie is coming to Brussels. It will take the form of an exhibition at n0dine and a gathering at LaVallée. In addition to the exhibition, two live performances are scheduled.

[NL] Het project wie WIJ zijn heeft haar wortels op een actieve biologische groenteboerderij uit 1866 op het Belgische platteland. Zeven kunstenaars gingen er op verkenning naar de parallellen tussen landbouw en kunst.

Tijdens een periode van vier seizoensresidenties op de boerderij van Boer Maarten (maart ’23 – maart ’25), voerden ze onderzoek en gesprekken. Deze werden samengebracht in een reeks kranten.

In mei 2025 kwam het project tot een nieuwe fase: De Collectie.

De eerste presentatie van De Collectie was een publiek parcours op de boerderij van Boer Maarten in Attenrode Vlaams-Brabant. Kunstenaars deelden elk vanuit hun eigen praktijk hun ervaringen. De condities die ‘werk’ — en dus ook leven — bepalen, kwamen mee naar buiten.

In september komt De Collectie naar Brussel. Ze zal de gedaante aannemen van een expo in n0dine en een ontmoeting in LaVallée. Naast de expo zijn er twee live performances.

[FR] La première présentation publique de De Collectie a été à la ferme de Maarten Van Gool, en mai. Lors d’un parcours en plein air, les artistes ont partagé les expériences individuelles à travers les spécificités de leurs pratiques, en révélant les conditions qui déterminent le ‘travail’ – ainsi que la vie.

En septembre, De Collectie se manifeste à Bruxelles sous forme d’une exposition à n0dine et d’une rencontre à La Vallée. Dans le cadre de l’expo, deux performances sont prévues.
