Aleph/(א) is a performance by artist Ana Wild, following a research on the Canaanite movement, and putting into question the notion of national identity.
A solo performer dismantles her own national identity though conveying words and phrases in her mother tongue – Hebrew. Proposing that this examination of one’s self-defined identity can reflect the formation of a society’s’ ethos and myth.
The poetic and musical qualities of Hebrew are explored, and the manner in which they manifest an emotional affiliation to land, landscape, geography and climate.
