[EN] Spit & Sweat is a somatic descent—a journey through the ruptures and secretions of the body into subterranean sites where grief softens the ground into a fertile space of becoming, and where decomposition becomes compost for the possible. It attends to what the body holds and what it expels: sweat, tears, fat, blood, moans, bones, and breath become agents of knowledge and transformation. The artists descend into shadow realms—personal, mythical, ancestral—and return with altered configurations of self and story. Ropes, gates, altars, melting vessels, and chtonic invocations offer portals into these shifting states trembling beneath the surface.
[NL] Spit & Sweat is een somatische afdaling—een reis door de breuken en afscheidingen van het lichaam naar onderaardse plekken waar verdriet de grond verzacht tot een vruchtbare ruimte van wording en waar ontbinding compost wordt voor het mogelijke. Er wordt aandacht besteed aan wat het lichaam vasthoudt en wat het uitscheidt: zweet, tranen, vet, bloed, kreunen, botten en adem worden middelen van kennis en transformatie. De kunstenaars dalen af in schaduwrijken—persoonlijk, mythisch, voorouderlijk—en keren terug met veranderde configuraties van zichzelf en het verhaal. Touwen, poorten, altaren, smeltende vaten en chtonische bezweringen bieden portalen naar deze verschuivende toestanden die onder de oppervlakte trillen.De tentoonstelling van Helena Dietrich, Annick Nölle en Hanne Van Dyck wordt geactiveerd door live performances, lezingen en een stemworkshop.
