[NL] Kunst & Zwalm is een tweejaarlijks kunstparcours in de Zwalmstreek dat sinds 1997 georganiseerd wordt door BOEM vzw. Het project nodigt kunstenaars uit om nauw samen te werken met de omgeving en een nieuw landschap te verbeelden. Dit jaar namen nadine (Loes Jacobs) en manoeuvre (Chris Rotsaert) samen het curatorschap op zich. Samen met 18 kunstenaars/collectieven gingen ze aan de slag rond ‘water’. Het maatschappelijk debat rond water, haar kracht en mystiek, en de realiteit van de Zwalm rivier die het landschap doorkruist, werden de leidraad voor het creatieve werkproces in deze editie.

[FR] Kunst & Zwalm est un parcours artistique bisannuel dans la région de Zwalm, organisé par l’asbl BOEM depuis 1997. Le projet invite les artistes à travailler dans la region de Zwalm et à imaginer un nouveau paysage. Cette année, nadine (Loes Jacobs) et manoeuvre (Chris Rotsaert) se partagent le commissariat. Avec 18 artistes/collectifs, ils se penchent sur le thème de l’eau. Le débat social autour de l’eau, son pouvoir et sa mystique, ainsi que la réalité de la rivière Zwalm traversant le paysage sont devenus les principes directeurs du processus de création de cette édition.

[EN] Kunst & Zwalm is a biennial art route in the Zwalm region organised by BOEM vzw since 1997. The project invites artists to work closely with the environment and to imagine a new landscape. For this edition, Loes Jacobs/nadine and Chris Rotsaert/manoeuvre take on the joint curatorship. Together with 18 artists/collectives, they set to work around ‘water’. The reality of the Zwalm river crossing the landscape but also the power and mystics of water, and its social debate, became the guiding principle for unique artistic trajectories.

All visual artworks on the route are accessible during opening hours. Performances and walks are also organised. Participation is free (subject to entrance ticket) but for some walks you need to make a reservation!
