[EN] Oracle (Michel Yang, Caroline Daish, Justine Maxelon) is participating in the exhibition ‘through art we care’, as part of their long term residency from the IN/FINITY project at the TOPAZ supportive an palliative day care center.

Over the past three years the “IN/FINITY” project has invited artists across disciplines to come work as resident artists at the TOPAZ palliative and supportive hospice of the Brussels University Hospital.  This project was both a research as to how artists can create a dialogue with a healthcare contexts (the facility, the staff, the patients,…) as a way to artistically explore what is possible in such a context and how it affects both the artists, patients and staff.  Over these 3 years a total of 8 artists have completed a trajectory at TOPAZ and many more have briefly visited or come along with the residents.  The exhibition shows not only the work created by the artists during these 3 years but also documents our/their approach and experiences in working within a healthcare facility.  It addresses the questions that arose while working, the recurring themes that almost all of the artists started to explore, the ways art became a catalyst to dialogue, inspiration and creativity at the hospice.

[NL] Oracle (Michel Yang, Caroline Daish, Justine Maxelon) neemt deel aan de tentoonstelling ‘through art we care’, als onderdeel van hun langdurige residentie van het IN/FINITY project in het TOPAZ supportive an palliative day care center.

De afgelopen drie jaar heeft het project “IN/FINITY” kunstenaars uit alle disciplines uitgenodigd om als resident te komen werken in het TOPAZ palliatief en ondersteunend hospitium van het Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel.  Dit project was zowel een onderzoek naar hoe kunstenaars een dialoog kunnen creëren met een zorgcontext (de instelling, het personeel, de patiënten,…) als een manier om artistiek te onderzoeken wat er mogelijk is in een dergelijke context en hoe het zowel de kunstenaars, de patiënten als het personeel beïnvloedt.  In de loop van deze 3 jaar hebben in totaal 8 kunstenaars een traject bij TOPAZ doorlopen en nog veel meer kunstenaars zijn kortstondig op bezoek geweest of zijn met de bewoners meegekomen.  De tentoonstelling toont niet alleen het werk dat de kunstenaars in deze 3 jaar hebben gemaakt, maar documenteert ook onze/hun aanpak en ervaringen in het werken binnen een zorginstelling.  Het gaat over de vragen die tijdens het werken zijn ontstaan, de terugkerende thema’s die bijna alle kunstenaars onderzoeken, de manieren waarop kunst een katalysator is geworden voor dialoog, inspiratie en creativiteit in het hospitium.

[FR] Oracle (Michel Yang, Caroline Daish, Justine Maxelon) participe à l’exposition ‘through art we care’, dans le cadre du projet IN/FINITY et de leur résidence au centre de soin palliatif de jour TOPAZ.

Depuis trois ans le projet IN/FINITY a invité des artistes à venir travailler au centre de soins palliatifs TOPAZ de l’hôpital universitaire de Bruxelles. Ce projet a initié une recherche sur la façon dont les artistes peuvent entrer en dialogue avec un environnement de soins (l’espace, le personnel, les patients …), et a tenté d’explorer artistiquement ce qui est possible dans un tel contexte, ainsi que la façon dont cela affecte à la fois les artistes, les patients, les soignants. Sur ces trois années, huit artistes ont effectué un parcours à Topaz, de nombreux autres ont participé ponctuellement au projet. L’exposition ne montre pas uniquement les œuvres crées pendant ses trois années, mais documente aussi notre/leur approche et expérience du travail au sein d’un centre de soins. Cette exposition est une réponse aux questions qui ont émergé pendant le travail, les thèmes récurrents que les artistes ont commencé à explorer, la façon dont l’art est devenu un moyen d’engager le dialogue.
