[NL] Met de installatie Akkasie wil het Tijdelijk Informatie Centrum (T.I.C.) reflecteren op onze omgang met fotografie en de beelden die ons dagelijks omringen.
Anders dan het Westerse woord ‘fotografie’, dat verwijst naar ‘schrijven met licht’, benadrukt de Perzische term voor fotografie ‘akkasie’ het tijdelijke en representatieve karakter van beelden. Fotografie wordt hier als het ware voorgesteld als een onstabiel spiegelbeeld: een blik op een wereld die er heel even is, en dan niet meer.
Op uitnodiging van de Sint-Gorikshallen ging het T.I.C. aan de slag op het grondgebied van het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest, en poogt aan de hand van tien op protocollen gebaseerde fotografische acties vraagstukken over digitale fotografie en hedendaags erfgoed te visualiseren. Gedurende drie maanden wijdde het T.I.C. zich aan het uitwerken en -voeren van de protocollen, wat resulteerde in een tijdelijke collectie van meer dan 300.000 digitale beeldbestanden en een projectieduur van meer dan 40 uur.
De tien projectoren in de kelders van de Sint-Gorikshallen ontsluiten voor de eerste en enige keer deze collectie.
[EN] With the installation Akkasie, the Tijdelijk Informatie Centrum (T.I.C.) wants to reflect on our relationship with photography and the images that surround us every day.
Unlike the Western word ‘photography’, which refers to ‘writing with light’, the Persian term for photography ‘akkasie’ emphasises the temporary and representative nature of images. Photography is presented here as an unstable reflection: a view of a world that is there for a moment, and then no more.
At the invitation of the Saint-Géry Halls, the T.I.C. set out to work on the territory of the Brussels-Capital Region, and through ten protocol-based photographic actions, attempted to visualise issues concerning digital photography and contemporary heritage. During three months, the T.I.C. devoted itself to the elaboration and implementation of the protocols, resulting in a temporary collection of more than 300,000 digital image files and a projection duration of more than 40 hours.
For the first and only time, the ten projectors in the basement of the Sint-Gorikshallen unlock this collection.
[FR] Avec l’installation Akkasie le Tijdelijk Informatie Centrum (T.I.C.) nous propose de réfléchir sur notre relation quotidienne avec la photographie, et les images qui nous entourent. Contrairement au terme occidental « photographie » qui signifie « écrire avec la lumière », le terme Persan « Akkasie » souligne la nature éphémère et représentative des images. La photographie y est présentée comme un reflet instable : la vision d’un monde présent un moment, avant de disparaître. À l’invitation des Halles Saint Géry, le T.I.C. s’est installé pour travailler sur le territoire de la région Bruxelles capitale, et au travers de dix protocoles basés sur la photographie, a tenté d’aborder visuellement certaines problématiques liées à la photographie numérique ainsi que l’héritage contemporain. Le T.I.C. a passé trois mois à l’élaboration et à l’implémentation de ces protocoles ; en résulte une collection temporaire de plus de 300 000 images digitales et une projection de plus de 40 heures. Pour la première et unique fois, les dix projecteurs dévoileront cette collection dans le sous-sol du Sint-Gorikshallen.
