[EN] As part of the happening The Continuation, the second phase of the Heimat project started by Kasper Demeulemeester and Jakob Van den Broucke, Buratinas sailed to Mol.

There it functioned as an independent way of documenting the landscape and gathering information about the surroundings. The history of the Kempen is very strongly intertwined with the history of man-made water environments: from the artificial sand pit lakes (Zilvermeer,…) to the canals which brought ‘progress’ to the region, water is an essential and controversial part of the contemporary Kempisch landscape. As an artistic research vessel, Buratinas offered enriching perspectives on this matter.

[NL] In het kader van de happening De Verderzetting, de tweede fase van het Heimat project van Kasper Demeulemeester en Jakob Van den Broucke, vaarde Buratinas richting Mol.

Het doel was om op een onafhankelijke manier het landschap te documenteren en informatie te verzamelen over de omgeving. De geschiedenis van de Kempen is zeer sterk verweven met de geschiedenis van kunstmatige watermilieus: van de zandwinplassen (Zilvermeer,…) tot de kanalen die de streek ‘in vooruitgang’ brachten, is water een essentieel en controversieel onderdeel van het hedendaagse Kempische landschap. Als een artistiek onderzoeksschip opende Buratinas nieuwe perspectieven ten aanzien van deze kwestie.
