La collection des Empathiques #3

[FR] Maëlle Maisonneuve et Léa Mayer travaillons ensemble depuis 2018 sur une série de petites sculptures: La Collection des Empathiques.
Le développement de ce projet nécessite l’utilisation de matériaux naturels et trouvés comme base pour leur production. Ainsi, nous utilisons l’errance et la notion d’aléatoire comme fondement de notre processus créatif. Nous avons profité du temps de résidence sur Buratinas pour pêcher et trouver des matériaux flottants dans l’eau où sur les berges du canal au gré de notre itinéraire.
Sa lenteur, la relation du bateau avec son environnement direct et la spécificité des matériaux disponibles sur les canaux belges ont fait ainsi avancer notre projet de manière très singulière. En parallèle, Léa Mayer a entamé un inventaire visuel de différents nuages croisés pendant la traversée.

[EN] Maëlle Maisonneuve and Léa Mayer have been working together since 2018 on a series of small sculptures: La Collection des Empathiques.
They use natural and found materials to develop this project; wandering and randomness are at the heart of their creative process. The duo spent their time on Buratinas fishing and looking for floating materials in the water or on the banks of the canal.
The inertia, the relationship of the boat to its immediate environment and the specificity of the materials available on the Belgian canals made their project progress in a very special way. At the same time, Léa Mayer began a visual inventory of the different clouds they encountered during the crossing.

[NL] Maëlle Maisonneuve en Léa Mayer werken sinds 2018 samen aan een reeks kleine sculpturen: La Collection des Empathiques.
Voor de ontwikkeling van dit project gebruiken ze het begrip van het dwalen en de willekeur. Hun sculpturen krijgen vorm aan de hand van natuurlijke en gevonden materialen. Het duo maakte van hun tijd op Buratinas gebruik om te vissen en op zoek te gaan naar drijvend materiaal in het water of op de oevers van het kanaal.
De traagheid, de relatie van de boot met zijn directe omgeving en de specificiteit van de beschikbare materialen op de Belgische kanalen maakten dat hun project op een zeer bijzondere manier vorderde. Tegelijkertijd begon Léa Mayer met een visuele inventarisatie van de verschillende wolken die ze tijdens de overtocht tegenkwamen.
