[EN] in her book atmospheres of projection, researcher giuliana bruno describes projected images as places of transmutation, sites of multiple inhabitations. the book opens with the story of a corinthian maid who, to keep the memory of a departing lover, traces the outline of his shadow on a wall, an early act of projection.

(studio) lessons from diffractions is an itinerant study that, for now, has taken the shape of a lecture performance, a living experiment of body dysmorphia. an actor stands in front of a projector, while 16mm film loops, 35mm slides, spoken word, and distorted sounds pour out. the body becomes a screen.

thinking diffractively means paying attention to how things blur, how interference patterns leave a trace. through film, movement, and light, the work opens a space where the body records and rewrites itself. projections stretch and crack, moving with an old, slow temporality, life seen through life, standing slightly sideways, folding back into and re-reading previous postures.

an uncanny gap emerges between speaking and gesture, where the allure of the projection creates an atmosphere of invention.it is in the residue of the projection that a hand, tracing a lost figure, inhabits the distance between memory and presence.
