[EN] Kasper Demeulemeester and Jakob Van den Broucke will move into the project space n0dine from 5 January to 12 February 2022. This five-week collective living and working process will result in an exhibition and publication. The basic material they start from is a collection of works on A4 both artists have created separately in recent years.

The result, arising from the desire to de-materialise, from the pleasurable prospect of working together, from which energy arises, from which euphoria arises, from which ideas emerge, from which a momentum that captures the urgency of working together emerges, will gradually come about.

The final exhibition and publication will be presented to the public from 10 to 12 February 2022. Anyone wishing to visit before can make an appointment via bruna@nadine.be.

 

Jakob Van den Broucke is a visual artist and works in the social sector. His practice is characterised by inversions, stacks, cut-outs, omissions and takes the form of photographs, collages, objects, actions, occasional contemplative texts.

Kasper Demeulemeester retired as an artist at the beginning of 2021 and transferred the management of his legacy. The year 2021 was dominated by things that give life pleasure and relaxation with hobbies such as ironing, recreating, cleaning up. A number of questions arise. What does working mean when you are retired and unambitious? And what about later? Can you retire from your hobbies? And how do you do that?

Jakob and Kasper have been working together since 2019. The long-term project Heimat unfolds in the summer months as a residency, exhibition and publication, and gave rise to the establishment of the Tijdelijk Informatie Centrum. In 2021, both artists had solo exhibitions in Ghent and Brussels. 2022 will again be marked by collaboration, the desire to work together and to give shape to ideas about work and life.

 

[NL] Kasper Demeulemeester en Jakob Van den Broucke nemen van 5 januari tot 12 februari 2022 hun intrek in de projectruimte n0dine. Dit collectief leef- en werkproces van vijf weken zal resulteren in een tentoonstelling en publicatie. Het basismateriaal van waaruit vertrokken wordt, is een verzameling werken op A4 die beide kunstenaars de afgelopen jaren afzonderlijk maakten.

Het resultaat, voortkomend uit het verlangen om te de-materialiseren, uit het plezierig vooruitzicht om samen te werken, waaruit energie ontstaat, waaruit euforie ontstaat, waaruit ideeën ontstaan, waaruit een momentum ontstaat dat de urgentie van het samenwerken vastlegt, zal gaandeweg tot stand komen.

Van 10 tot 12 februari 2022 worden de tentoonstelling en publicatie voorgesteld. Wie voordien wil langskomen, kan een afspraak maken via bruna@nadine.be.

 

Jakob Van den Broucke is beeldend kunstenaar en werknemer in de sociale sector. Zijn praktijk wordt gekenmerkt door omdraaiingen, stapelingen, uitsneden, weglatingen en ontsloten in de vorm van foto’s, collages, objecten, acties, beschouwende en gelegenheidsteksten.

Kasper Demeulemeester ging begin 2021 met pensioen als kunstenaar en het beheer van zijn Nalatenschap werd overgedragen. Kaspers 2021 stond maximaal in het teken van dingen die het leven plezier en ontspanning verschaffen met hobby’s zoals strijken, recreëren, opruimen. Een aantal vragen werpen zich bijgevolg op. Wat betekent werken wanneer je gepensioneerd, ambitieloos bent? En wat dan later? Kan je pensioen nemen van je hobby’s? En hoe doe je dat? 

Sinds 2019 werken Jakob en Kasper samen. Het langdurig project Heimat ontspint zich in de zomermaanden als residentie, tentoonstelling en publicatie, en vormde de aanleiding voor de oprichting van het Tijdelijk Informatie Centrum. In 2021 hadden beide kunstenaars solo tentoonstellingen in Gent en Brussel. 2022 staat opnieuw in het teken van samenwerking, de zin om samen te werken en ideeën over werk en leven vorm te geven.

 

[FR] Kasper Demeulemeester et Jakob Van den Broucke s’installeront chez n0dine du 5 janvier au 12 février 2022. Une exposition ainsi qu’une publication seront produites au terme de ces 5 semaines de vie et de travail collectif. Le point de départ de leur travail en commun sera une collection d’oeuvres A4, créées séparément par les deux artistes ces dernières années.

Le résultat de cette rencontre va naître graduellement du désir de dé-materialiser et de la réjouissante perspective de travailler ensemble, de l’énergie et de l’euphorie grandissante, des idées émergentes et d’un élan traduisant l’urgence de travailler l’un avec l’autre.

L’exposition ainsi que la publication seront présentées au public entre le 10 et le 12 février 2022. Il sera possible de visiter l’espace plus tôt en prenant rendez-vous via bruna@nadine.be. 

Jakob Van den Broucke est un artiste visuel, qui travaille aussi dans le secteur social. Sa pratique est nourrie d’inversions, d’empilements, de découpages, d’omissions, de photographies, de collages, d’objets, d’actions ou de textes contemplatifs.

Kasper Demeulemeester a pris sa retraite en tant qu’artiste au début de l’année 2021 et a transféré la gestion de son héritage. Pour lui, l’année 2021 fut dominée par les plaisirs de la vie, la relaxation avec des hobbies comme le repassage, la récréation, le nettoyage. De nombreuses questions ont émergé. Que signifie travailler lorsqu’on est retraité et sans ambition ? Et qu’en est-il de l’avenir ? Est-il possible d’être « retraité » de ses hobbies ? Si oui, comment ?

Jakob et Kasper travaillent ensemble depuis 2019. Durant les mois d’été, leur projet Heimat a pris la forme d’une résidence, d’une exposition et d’une publication, et a vu naître le Tijdelijk Informatie Centrum. En 2021, les deux artistes ont montré leur travail dans des expositions personnelles à Gand et à Bruxelles.
